All squads are coached by ASA qualified teachers/coaches, who are all CRB checked and have attended Child and Vulnerable Adult protection Courses.
Academy
The Corby Academy is the gateway into the Swimming Club. It provides the link between learn to swim lessons leading into the world of competitive swimming. The Club accepts swimmers into the Academy usually around Leve l7 of the National Plan for Teaching Swimming (NPTS), although consideration will be given to keen younger swimmers, typically age group 6 years+. Swimmers progress through the Academy stages 8-10 NPTS, starting at the intake level for 1 evening, 1 hour per week, leading to 3 sessions, up to 4 hours per week.
Development Squad
For swimmers who have attained NPTS Level 10, or equivalent; typically around the ages 8 - 11. These swimmers concentrate on stroke and competitive techniques to develop their personal skills. They are given opportunities to experience club competitions, team and Diddy League galas/ open meets.
Training in 25 and 50m pools, 4 seesions per week, up to 5 hours.
Age Group Squad
For swimmers around 11-14 years who have reached a sound technical ability in 4 strokes plus Individual Medley, working towards and gaining County Qualifying times, competeting in Club Championships, Club League galas and Open Meets.
Training in 25 and 50m pools progressing from 4 to 5 sessions per week, up to 7 hours.
Premier Squad
For youth swimmers aged around 14+, who are confident, technically sound competitive swimmers. These swimmers have multiple County Qualifying times, training leading towards Distrist and National Championships.
Includes land training along with 25 and 50m pool training, 5 sessions per week up to 10 hours.
